Following a recent influx of enquiries from concerned Shropshire residents, a Shrewsbury Skin Clinic has set aside one day a week for people to go and get moles checked out.

Find Out Fridays was launched this month by The Skin Clinic based at The Dental Spa on Oxon Business Park where the checks are carried out by their Authorising medical officer, Dr Simon Reid.

Deb Price, Practice Manager at the clinic said: "Dr Reid holds a Certificate in Dermoscopy and is a member of the International Dermoscopy Society. Dermoscopy uses magnification and polarized light which enables Dr Reid to provide a more accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of skin lesions."

"Using the latest minor surgical techniques, mole removal is a relatively painless and simple procedure. Stitches are often not needed and any scarring is minimal. Anyone who is concerned about a mole can make an appointment to get it looked at on a Friday.

"Whilst moles, cysts and skin tags are extremely common on the face and other parts of the body, it is advisable to get them checked out if you are worried in any way, as Skin Cancers are on the increase."
