Dr Simon Reid (MB ChB FRCGP)

As Authorising Medical Officer for The Skin Clinic, Dr Reid has been a well respected local GP and a Senior Partner in a Shrewsbury Medical Practice and he is an experienced Clinical Assistant in the Dermatology Department of Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where he has been treating skin cancers since 2001.

In 2010 he completed the Cardiff University Certificate in Dermoscopy (the science of Diagnosing moles using magnification & polarized light) and is a member of the International Dermoscopy society. He now uses Dermoscopy regularly both in his role at the Hospital and at the Skin Clinic to diagnosis and treat skin lesions more accurately & effectively.

Dr Reid is also the Appointed Deanery Associate Advisor for teaching practices in Shropshire and Staffordshire. He has previously been director of the Senior House Officers Vocational Training Programme for Shropshire and course organiser as well as a GP Assessor for the Shrewsbury GP unit. He continues to run educational courses for G.P trainers.

Dr Reid has full membership of the General Medical Council and is a member of the Medical Defence Union and the R.C.G.P of which he was awarded a fellowship in 2003. His clinic is registered with The Care Quality Commission and his qualifications, caring disposition and experience makes Dr Reid well suited to his clinical leadership of this state-of-the-art clinic.

Dr Reid is very popular with our team and his patients due to his approachability, absolute professionalism and his sense of humour.

Outside of his clinical responsibilities Dr Reid has numerous interests including travel, photography, skiing, wine tasting, cricket and he is a BSAC dive leader.
